My biology teacher said "7 Days", so if we fell alseep in his class he wouldn't care long as we got the notes b/c he didn't want us to die from sleep deprivation. Also stress, and depresion can add on to it, so if you have alot of stress and depression then it can have a major effect on your sleep. You CAN go crazy without sleep, my mom sure did! I'm not joking either. Your mind shuts down and you litterly start losing your mind. Same as if you don't eat, you can start going crazy.

I've gone months and months without sleeping long enough to get into REM sleep (used to be thrilled to get 20 min. sleep). You survive, but often wish you didn't! My brain is worthless now- no short term memory. It's no wonder I lost it, huh?
I've taken every sleeping pill and numerous other pills from mental health and I found homeopathics best- with no side effects. The goal now, is to be sure I sleep at least 1 1/2 hours at a time, as that's how long it takes to get through a full sleep cycle. I usually sleep a couple 1 1/2 hour stretches a night. Not great, but a whole lot better then it used to be. One big key for me was to give up trying to fit into the rest of the world's schedule- I have to sleep when my body lets me and that's best after the sun come up in the morning. Makes it impossible to make use of a shelter when you're homeless. But you can't fight it sometimes you have to work with your body and what it's willing to do.

About 72 hours or 3 days more or less, depending upon the individual, without any kind of drug to assist one in staying awake.
After that amount of time, the body without artificial help, and the mind will automatically, shut down and you WILL fall asleep, regardless of what you are doing. That can be very, very dangerous and seriously, uncomfortable. It is not even worth trying unless there is some real life-threatening reason to stay awake that long and I cannot imagine what that would be.

most answers are wrong. You can stay awake for between 7-10 days although its not advisable. I once managed almost 5 day as a bet, after 4 days i was starting to hallucinate and by the 5th i started suffering from severe headaches and palpatations. Anyway i won £100 from 5 of my friends. And no i would not do it again.

You won't die you will just fall asleep eventually. People in their manic phase of bipolar disorder stay awake for days at a time or only get a few hours of sleep per night.

Well, I have been up for 3 days before, and I really started losing my mind, having anxiety attacks and getting so mad at people for no reason, everyone was frustrating. That was back in the day in my wild days, wont tell WHY i was up for 3 days, but it was pretty crazy.

I don't know, but eventually your body will shut down enough that you WILL fall asleep. I've never heard of anyone dieing b/c of lack of sleep.
