Judas betrayed Jesus, everyone knows this. But did he have a choice? Everything is part of God's masterplan. Jesus had to die for our sins, he had to be betrayed by someone. Was Judas destined from birth to betray Jesus, chosen eons before his birth by God...or did he choose of his own free will to do it?

God has been known to harden the hearts or put scales over the eyes of certain individuals in order to further the master plan for the benefit of the rest of humanity. Besides that, god is omniscient - he knows who is going to heaven or hell before he creates them. So, he knew Judas was going to betray him before he created him. An infinity before. It could be argued that that is WHY he created him...

since everything is part of God's materplan i think Judas was destined to betray Jesus since birth. God said that Jesus would die to save our sins so God would have to create someone to betray Jesus so i think that God knew Judas would make the wrong choice and betray Jesus but then again i could be wrong because everyone has his own free will so really this is a very complicated subject and i don't really think anyone would have the correct answer but God

Judas had no choice in this matter. It was all part of what had to be done. Without Judas playing his part in this "betrayal", how else would all of the following events happened? No, Judas did not betray Jesus, in fact, Judas sacrificed the most of all of the disciples by making himself out to be a traitor. Think about it and it will make sense.

It was NOT God's masterplan that Jesus be betrayed. And people are WRONG to say that everything is part of God's masterplan. God is not willing that any man should perish, but many do perish. Jesus said, "The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born." Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, "Thou hast said." Matthew 26: 24 -25

Let me explain this:

God FOREKNEW everything that would happen on this earth, but God DID NOT FOREORDAIN everything that would happen. Though God knew that Judas would betray Him, (he knows the end from the beginning - Isaiah 46:10) He did not foreordain Judas to do so. God would have forgiven even Judas, had Judas asked Him for forgiveness. Judas did acknowledge his horrible sin when he threw down the thirty pieces of silver that the scribes and Pharisees had paid him (Matthew 27: 3 - 5). But he failed to go to God and ask forgiveness. Why? Because he did not believe his sin would ever BE forgiven. And God knew that Judas would not believe. To receive forgiveness of sins, we must ASK. I do not believe Jesus was at all happy knowing all of this. I believe with my whole heart that Jesus was very grieved at the death of Judas, because He stood at the ready to grant forgiveness to someone, but that someone did not have enough faith in God's mercy to ask. God has no pleasure in the death of him that dieth (Exekiel 18 : 32), not even in the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 33 : 11). Judas was not destined to betray Jesus. But that's what happened, in spite of God's will.

May all we, who know God, pass this message of forgiveness on to those who are troubled and feeling hopelessly condemned because of sin. His mercy endureth forever.

Judas' heart was not pure allowing a place for the Devil, Satan used Judas to betray Jesus in fulfilling the scriptures in Genesis where God said Satan would bruise Jesus in the heel and Jesus would bruise Satan in the head. A bruise in the heel is something you recover from, hence God resurrecting Jesus back to life after he was put to death, Satan will be bruised in the head which brings permanent death. God does not preordain anyone to any particular life, we have free will.

JUDAS did it on his own (Free-Will) that's why GOD chose him, cause HE know's the future, and HE knew JUDAS would do it. No, GOD didn't make him do it, or predestined Judas to do it. GOD just knew it would happen. JESUS had to get to that CROSS, that was JESUS's Secret Mission. Do you know why JESUS made a thief (Judas) the Treasurer of HIS Ministry? JESUS was trying to make a man out of JUDAS (help him). JUDAS never really Believed that JESUS was WHO HE said HE was. JUDAS wasn't a Believer. Hope this helps.

there are a few places in the word where it looks like GOD created them for that purpose Romans 9 -19,20,21,22,23, but i believe we all have a free choice and that only after continuing to push away would you end up in Judas shoes
