Late in High School, my cousin realized she was better at math/science than she was at English/Social Studies (although she got straight A's in everything). This suprised her because she thought that as a female she would gravitate to the written rather than the technical.

She did two years of college and then went into the Pharm.D. program at Midwestern which is a 3-year program. Thus in 5 years she had a doctorate and was able to start earning $85k a year. She was 23.

A cousin-in-law of mine picked the Psychology path. She did her bachelor's degree and then a two year M.S. in Mariage & Family Counseling. Then, she had to do a 2 year unpaid internship. When she finally started making money, it was to the tune of $30k a year.

While money shouldn't be the only factor in making your decision, you might want to consider supply and demand. In California just about every college has a full M.F.T. program -- more than 50 in all, some with as many as 100 students in each class. There are only about 5 pharmacy schools in the whole state. There's a definate need for Pharmacists with many earning well over $100,000 and there is a glut of psychologists.

Food for thought.

Now get back to those Chem books!

Pharmacy will probably be more challenging of the two. If you can stick with the math and science it sounds like you would like pharmacy more.... maybe be a psychiatrist and do both...

My aunt is a psychologist and loves it...but it takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and a PhD if you want to work as a counselor. She finds it very rewarding. I also have a friend who attempted pharmeceutical school. She ended up dropping out because it was too hard and she found it to be very boring. Anyway, that's one opinion.
