IT could help, but they'll wait for you to come up for air.
Killer bees are known to chase an intruder for up to 1,500 feet, whereas honey bees will stop the chase at around 300 feet.

YES. Bees don't swim. The water tension would make it very difficult for an individual bee to submerge itself. Also bees don't have a mouth and lung system like we do. They have direct connections from their lungs to holes on their body. So they don't hold their breath. If they are on the surface of the water then they could breathe, if the water tension held them up, but if they get submerged they would quickly drown. Bees hunt mostly by smell. Their compound eyes are only good for detecting movement. If you went under water then the bees couldn't see you and couldn't smell you. They would angrily buzz around for a bit and then return to the nest. The problem with Killer Bees is that they pursue an attack for a longer distance, and for a longer time.

Bees can't swim, so if you can, do so. Swim fast under water as far away from where you jumped in as you can before sufficing.

I presume it would be, since I'm sure that bees don't like water, and surely wouldn't be that desperate to get you.
