Check out both these links for ratings in the Chicagoland area. Personally, I enjoy the Brazilian Steakhouses (Sal Y Carveo http://www.salecarvao.com/ specifically) but they are a bit pricey. In Gurnee, there is the Backyard Steak Pit that has great steaks too. Their porterhouse is incredible.

does al capones hideaway count as northwest burbs?

im not sure, and it is pricey (imagine $125 for 4 minus alcohol), but super delicous, and you get lots of food. plus, it really was al capone's hideout in the 30s.

theres all sorts of cool memorabilia of the prohibition on the walls, including a cement block with old shoes (wouldnt want to have been that guy) in the entrance. and a gift shop with a huge selection of cigars and your normal schmaltzy gift shop fare.

hope this helps!

Catch 35 in Naperville, believe it or not - yes they have great seafood, but the steaks are also good.
