Why is it that when you take tests like the SAT or the ACT, they ask what your nationality is? What do they use it for? I'm sure they don't use it to score the test or anything, but I'm just wondering what they need that information for.

For statistics.. later on when they release the results they might make a pie chart or a graph with the different nationalities or races and what they scored.

Often, tests like that send your test information to colleges. The colleges use it to target prospective students and send them admissions information. Many colleges and organizations offer scholarships or grants based on nationality, or other factors. These background questions on standardized tests make it much easier to find possible applicants.
