There are many churchses that call themselves pentecostal, but have differing beliefs.
For the most part they hold these in common
The Bible is God's Word to mankind, and infallable
There is only one God
Jesus is God made flesh, the visible image of the invisible Spirit
Jesus died to bring salvation to the world
The infilling of the Holy Ghost in the body of believers as in Acts chapter 2
The necessity of baptism as taught by the Apostles
Salvation is a free gift of God, not obtained by earning it, since man cannot earn their salvation
Many are called to salvation, few answer the call
There is a heaven and there is a hell
The "Gifts/Fruit of the Spirit" are exhibited in the Church today.

You have received some good answers... you might also look up Apostolic churches to get some other information. They have most of the same doctrines as Pentecostals.
I grew up in those denominations

Pentacostal churches are Christian. They believe in being born again. They also believe the Holy Spirit is active in their lives. A derogatory term for them is "Holy Roller" because they all pray alloud at the same time. They also sing gospel songs and clap and have a good time. The preachers are very passionate speakers and wont put you to sleep. I was involved with them for many years. I even kept house for a preacher and his family. I had a very deep respect for the way he lived his life.

They're quite dangerous. I would suggest that you stay as far away from them as possible. Most pentecostals actually worship the Republican Party and George W. Bush, and have fallen far away from the teachings of Jesus.
