My xtra thick african american hair has been natural for 1 year. I desperately need a trim. Should I continue to keep my hair natural or should I perm it eventhough my hair might be a lil damaged around the edges because of the transitioning. Which one would be the healthiest thing to do? What treatments work for my hairtype? Should I just cut it off? thnks!

first u should perm your hair than clip the ends of your hair so it can be even than the best still 2 put is a roller set. and wash your haIR EVERY WEEK. so it can stay clean and always ty your down never sleep on it that how ita gonna fall out and when you start getting different styles don't wear weave pony tails because your hair can fall out from that 2 and the best type of hair product to use is vital pro. i know this because my momma does hair and some of the same things that u is going through that happened 2 me

My brother as the same problem, (his father was black).
What he does is keeps it natural, and well conditioned. A perm would certainly cause some damage. Your hair needs to maintain a certain moisture level to prevent it becoming brittle. and a Perm would suck the moisture right out of it.

dont just assume that only black salons can do black peoples hair. i go to a white lady who does the best hair for the cheapest price.

the Farouk chi people came out with this new system. youve gotta have natural hair to do it. i plan on growing out my hair to use it. ask a hair dresser about it.

and not everyone hair will be damaged from a perm

Natural is always best.
A perm will damage your hair.

don't perm! i lost six inches off my hair from breakage when i did . if your hairs curly you don't need a perm and if its straight, straights in right now.just leave your beautiful self alone.
