I think htat we should not accept people becoming obese. Im talkin dont hate the player, hate the game stuff here. if we make people feel bad that they are fat, then maybe they will lose the weight. like positive peer pressure. But not make fun of the overweight people, just the chronically obese. like take away their burgers and stuff. just ban all crap food from people who cant learn to manage their intake. I know that sometimes obesity is caused by medical issues, but more often than not is it because they are eating too much food that is bad for them. Im not saying this because Im skinny and prejudiced or anything so dont give me any rude answers, but I think that this generation cannot be healthy if we dont teach them. who's with me?

thank you renee... thats what I meant. I have friends that are overweight too, and they say they would not be that way if someone would have taught them to eat right when they were young. Its easier to never put the weight on than to put it on and take it off. all im saying is that schools should promote healthy eating(they already removed bad food from schools) at home as well.

Yes it should not be acceptable. It is unhealthy, disgusting, and unless there is a medical reason for it there is no excuse. I was overweight over ten years ago.
I was so uncomfortable, everything hurt, my blood pressure got sky-high and I felt like a pig and looked like one too. It is also making people get diabetes and causing healthcare to rise so much it is becoming unaffordable. I just don't understand why anyone would want to be fat and expect people to accept it like it's just a minor problem.

I work out every day and have been doing so since 15 y/o. I have never been over weight........... I'm sorry if this rubs you the wrong way.... But people have to accept the responsibility for their own actions... I don't think my tax dollars should be spent on baby sitting the poor, lazy eating habits of over weight people. I also believe in the concept of free enterprise.... If McDonald's wants to sell big mac's, I think they should be able to! It is not their fault that their are people who eat fast food 3,4 and sometimes 5 times a day.
Again, accepting the responsibility for their actions!

Your statement does make some good points.... I recently read an article about a mother who was jailed for child abuse... The state determined that the health for her two children was so poor due to the fact that they only ate fast food. She was court ordered to stop! She didn't and now she is in jail! I'm not gonna go as far to say that this is wrong.... their kids and obviously no one was looking out for them...

I think you are probably mostly right.

I think we have to make obesity unacceptable, the way we are making smoking unacceptable. Smoking isn't illegal, it's just very heavily taxed, and very difficult to do in public. Nearly every smoker I know is ashamed of themselves, is trying to quit, has tried to quit, or just recognises how unhealthy their habit it. (That wasn't the case 25 years ago, I can tell you).

It's not a case of making people feel bad about themselves, but educating them and doing everything possible to help them to change their lifestyle.

The food industry also has to be brought to account, the same way the tobacco companies have to be. Junk food is just a type of drug.

Let's turn this thing around before it gets further out of control!

PS I'm a bit overweight and could definitely lose a few pounds.

Considering that feeling bad about themselves is one reason people overeat, I would say that making people "feel bad that they are fat" is definitely not going to solve the problem. So what do you suggest? Only allow people who are within certain weight limits to order hamburgers? Will everyone have to weigh in when they enter a restaurant? Will there be a special menu for overweight people, one that lists only healthy food? And who will determine who is overweight and who is not? There are a lot of people who are skinny but who have sky-high cholesterol levels and elevated blood pressure. So do we ban them from ordering high cholesterol foods, or salty foods?

If you want to get rid of it have them see this site. Here is my view. This site has everything you need to know. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way you have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) soon surpassing hunger and infectious disease. So you are a victim of this pandemic (epidemic).

You need to re-learn how to eat. Find out about fastest way to lose weight, slow ways to lose weight, most effective exercise and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which makes people look a lot fatter (bloated). Learn everything on site below so you can understand how food and exercise affects your body. Do this and you can be thin. Do this not, and you will remain part of the biggest pandemic in all of history. Due to this pandemic, for the first time in 100 years, the children of Americans have a lower life expectancy than their parents. Plus click on "Pure Water" to make sure the water is not hurting you.

You are a pinhead!

No doubt you are a young skinny chick why has always been skinny. Suggesting taunting fat people will make them loose weight is just nutty. Here's a news flash, fat people already feel bad about being fat (not all, but most) I know because I have been fat all my life.

For myself I have been able to turn my life around. I have worked hard and lost 45 pounds and have another 25 to go. I did this for myself, no one else. No amount of taunting by a cheerleader bimbo was going to "teach" me.

Maybe teaching them would help. Some people eat when they are depressed or bored. I don't know if anything can be done. I don't mind seeing overweight people but I do worry about some of my friends that are over weight. It's not healthy for them.
I think maybe it's more of a mental thing like depression or they enjoy eating...
Don't know tho

if they should not eat burgers because they are bad for these people then no one in the world should be allowed to eat them either. You can be larger and pretty healthy OR skinny and totally unhealthy. Its still unhealthy food no matter your weight. Question is what can we do with all the rude people ? Abolish them too?

Maybe we should blame the food industry. Not only do they load a lot of foods with fat and calories, the food is loaded with tons of chemicals that can't be good for anyone. I read that some of the chemicals used in processed foods actually make people more hungry.

If you dont like us then dont look, drinking booze and taking drugs isnt good for you either, nor is starving or barfing to stay skinny, you are a judgmental brat.
