I hear it's an ongoining battle with Belgium, Germany, and the Czech Republic. I would have to go with Germany (my homeland), and the best beer I've tasted (especially the local beers in Bavaria). I'm visiting next year and taking a train to Prague to see what they have to offer.

OK, Canada fans, why do you think your country brews great beer? With the person suggesting the New Belgium Brewing Company...good choice, I live in Denver right now and toured the brewery (It was awesome), They make great beer, but still not on par with the Germans, the Bavarian beer scene blows everyone else out of the water.

Belgium. The Trappist ales, in particular. Though Germany beers certainly have their adherants.

The Czechs have some great pilsners, Belgians have some phenomenal trappist ales (Chimay blue reserve...mmmm), the Germans have too many great beers to list...but overall, you have to say the US.
The US has more breweries than any other country in the World, by far, and the current craft-brewing momement has progressed to the point where you can find amazing beer without travelling too far from your front door.
No other country brews as many styles with such fanatascism as the US.

U S of A, in my opinion the new belgium brewing company is the best thing that ever happened, my favorite beer is fat tire amber ale, they also have awsome seasonal beer such as skinny dip, bier de mars, etc. and if you like wheat beer try sunshine wheat with a slice of orange, new belgium has a pretty big selection of beer, deschuttes brewery in oregon is awesome as well. I distribute both labels, and almost every imported beer that is in the u.s.

Thats a toughie. I would have to say America only because we tend to brew from many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. A German-style beer brewed in America tastes just as good as a German-brewed beer.

Belgian beers are very good and there are probably more brewers in Belium than anywhere else. It's a hard call, but I think I'll agree with you and say I like German beer best also.
