He talks about beheading people with shovels, hatchets and meat cleavers. He listens to Insane Clown Posse, does anyone know this group? What can I do to help him?

Hi,

My son had escalating violent fantasy's prior to getting him properly diagnosed and treated for several disorders at the same time: AD/HD, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, Conduct Disorder and BiPolar Disorder...

At the beginning of fourth grade, he was doing well, then something "switched on" and by the end of fifth grade he had almost gotten kicked out of school for behavioral problems and his A's and B's dropped to D's and F's..

We even sent him to a behavioral boot camp to "fix him." It worked for about ten days, when he was caught shoplifting.

He retreated into his fantasy world for longer and longer periods. And when I questioned him about his drawings, etc... He said I do this here, so I don't do this out there. The drawings were all of stabbings, hacking off limbs, etc. Some times his character was the one that was the hero, at other time, the same character was evil.

I am not a Dr., but know that there are many cases where these types of thoughts can be diminshed/changed/redirected by medication. We've come a long ways in a very short time with regards to developing medication that addresses these types of problems. It changed my son's life, instantly...Within weeks he was pretty much a normal kid. We had to do fine tuning, but overall you would never ever know he had any type of problem...

Also, I don't know how old your friend is, but if he's in his late teens/early twenties, hopefully, this could end-up being the worst of it. This is because the specific part of the brain that addresses threats/violence is in a much older/primal part of the brain. Unfortunately, the part of the brain that exercises control over those thoughts and action hasn't finished "wiring up". It won't until his early to mid twenties. (I got that information from one of Dr. Phil's shows.)

I don't know where you live, but truly, and I mean TRULY... your friend needs to live in an area that is on the cutting edge of treatments for this type of things. There are specific medication protocols and interactions that most doctors are unaware of. As a result, they could exacerbate the problems. And in your friend's case, that could have VERY dire consequences.

For instance, we live on the Peninsula in Northern California. Near us is UC San Francisco, USF, UC Berkely, UC Hayward, and Stanford -- specifically the Lucille Packard's childrens hospitial.

And actually I read an interview from Dr. Kiki Chang, the director of the Adolescent Mood Disorders treatment center at Stanford. He clearly states that if you don't live in a place that has knowledgeable practictioners in this arena, physically move to where there is.

Hopefully, your friend has a conscious and would feel remorse should he act on his dreams. If so, it's possible he can move through this. However, if he's past the point of remorse, I'd be concerned with escalating "sociopathic/schitzophrenic??? behavior. I know nothing about those disorders..You'd (actually he'd) have to speak to an expert about those disorders.

And one final note: I am not anti-therapy, however, in my son's case, the therapy didn't do any good until we got his medications working properly.

And one final thing... I know you are frightened for him which is fine. However, this is a case where you must think of your safety first -- and if there kids -- even more so.

Best of luck to you and your friend.

To dream of lack of existence, exhibits a transitional section on your existence. you're transforming into extra enlightened or non secular. although, you try desperately to flee the calls for of your on a daily basis existence. also, This dream could also represent element of you or your existence that you wish may go away you on my own and end coming up a nuisance. Killing ought to represent the killing off of previous aspects of your self and previous habit. it may also advise that some thing on your existence has ended, a courting, a job and so on and also you're disconnecting your self from it. or perhaps your warding off an difficulty on your existence. it should be fears or themes on your existence that opt to be dealt with yet you're merely choosing to "run" faraway from them. because that that is ordinary i'd advise you workout consultation what this difficulty is and take care of it. when you're in any respect non secular, i'd pray that God lets you see what you want to do and how you may take care of it. reliable success.

Oh my. That would be scary. When he tells you his dreams, is he himself frightened by them, or is he laughing about it? Either way, he needs some help. It could just be some hidden anger that he has. Just because he dreams of killing, I hope this does not mean he really would kill. It could be he watches/listens to too many violent things.

I'm not really sure what you can do besides listen to him and try to encourage him to get some help. If you feel that he is a real danger to anyone, then you need to call a hotline - like a local counselling center, and express your concerns. Let them take care of it. They can usually do this anonymously. It's too much for you to try to take care of yourself, so it's best to leave it to professionals.

Ive had friends who had dreams of killing people. Its quite ok if you dream of killing people. How often do you feel the need to kill someone? any more than 50 times a day is bad, oh and lay off the drugs, get a girl, and make sure you don't kill her.

I know a lot of people that listen to ICP, but they have never told me of crazy dreams like that. Usually what I dream about at night, is what I talk about or watch right before I go to bed. Maybe he is watching his favorite show right before he goes to bed, and that is causing crazy dreams. Also, you may have heard that eating certain foods also cause craziness in the sleep...

sounds like your friend has mental problems. not because he dreams about killing people, but because he talks about doing it. get him to see a doctor if possible.
