If you can get some Calomine Lotion that will soothe the itch. Also bathe in a luke warm bath with Oatmeal Bath (Aveno) it is also soothing. Sorry, I used to get it pretty bad myself. " (

I had poisen ivy it seemed like every summer as a child. I would use small amounts of water and baking soda to make a cool paste to not only help aleviate the itching but also dry up the sores. I also took cool baths with household bleach in the water to dry out the sores as well.

Make a paste out of baking soda and water and spread it on the poison ivy. It will dry and should help with the itch. Not as good as Kalamine lotion though.

Go swimming in a pool, I found when i was a kid and got poison ivy the clorine dried it up in a few days. It is safer then using bleach which may cause chemical burns, trust me on this one I know first hand.

if you have ever watched the show "mythbusters" then you would know that the best remedy for poison ivy is a commercial product. most of them are very effective and are worth every penny.

You could use the bloodroot weed which is found in the woods to alleviate the itching. As for the home remedy... If you have some sort of salve or cortisone cream to apply topically as well as some antihistimine that would work well. I hear according to "My big fat greek wedding," that you could spray windex on it... windex cures everything :)

Calamine Lotion.

Benadryl (in either lotion or pill form)

You can also get a shot to stop the itching from the doctors.

sprinkle pleanty of baking soda, and try not to scratch. the baking soda pulls out the poison.

mix a very very small amount of bleach in water and dab on the spots... be sure to rinse it off as well- it will help dry it up.

a product called zanfel is very good. It cost about $40.00 for a small tube...but it works.
