gift is for cousin's son, and we aren't very close since we only recently moved back after living out of state for 9 years.

Whatever you can afford. I usually try to do $50 for weddings, christenings, and stuff like that. I'm sure some people would say tht's cheap and others couldn't afford it. It also depends on how nice of a ceremony/party they are having.

Once I went to a Christening and later saw the parents at a local bar/restaurant after the party had ended. They were ripping into the envelopes to get money out to pay their own bar bill!

The moral of the story? Don't give 'em money! The kid will never get his hands on it anyway. A nice keepsake or a child's Bible sounds great.

a $50 Savings Bond is nice unless it's a relative, then depending on what relative... you choose.

I would say a $100.00 savings bond -then you only have to actually spend $50.00
