Thats not actually true for every pentecostal group, I've been to 4 or 5 pentecostal churches and some men at each church had facial hair and even two pentecostal ministers and one evangelist I know have facial hair. So I don't know what group you are refering to, and I don't know what bible verse they may be using.

Having grown up in the pentecostal church, I can shed a little light on that subject.

In the 60's and 70's the only people who had facial hair were the "hippies." Part of the doctrine of that "version" of christianity is to "come out from among them and be separate." This applies mostly to the outward appearance. To not be mistaken for the sinful "hippies," most pentecostal preachers insisted that their "saints" be clean shaved. In fact for a long time, the denomination wouldn't allow any of their "pastors" to have any kind of facial hair. This has relaxed as a "standard" in their rulebook over the years, however, some of the "old time" preachers still think this should be the case. Facial hair makes people look "worldly," and shouldn't be on a saint of god. The honestly believe that a person... any person should be able to look at them and know, for a fact, that they are pentecostal, even if they know absolutely nothing about them.

I know it's strange, but that's the way they believe. People create doctrine out of some of the strangest portions of the bible and expect EVERYBODY to go along with it.

I dont believe I have ever heard that...I have gone to a Pentecostal church for about 6 years now, and almost the entire time have had a goatee or some other facial hair, and not once has this ever been pointed out to me.

Can't think of any reason and I know the Bible pretty well. Usually the Bible is pro facial hair.

Sometimes you get some odd, kind of controlling pastors out there, but I haven't heard about any recently. And I know a number of Pentecostals.

Maybe it's some kind of second hand misunderstanding?

There are many different churches who claim the lable pentecostal, each one has a different slant on modesty and facial hair. You might want to ask the question about whichever particular pentecostal church you are thinking about that dislikes facial hair...

Says who? My pentecostal pastor has a beard. Do a search for Ron Johnson at Bethel Temple AG.

I dont know what kind of church you are going to, but apparently they never read the Bible. Even the Bible talks about how a man's facial hair is to be trimmed. It is not a sin to have facial hair.
