why do girls always go for the rough and tough bad boy and totally ignore the nice guy?

i would also like to know what is your definition of a nice guy. i wasn't very clear on what i meant as a nice guy.

I've discussed this with many girls at different points in their lives and what I found was the following:

Girls generally go for the bad boys when they are younger for two reasons. The first is because they are looking for fun. It's a part of their lives where they are looking to rebel, experimenting with things, or getting caught up with peer pressure on what they should be into. The second reason is that they think that they can change the guy. Even though the bad boy will treat them like sh*t, they feel that he will love them and change his a**hole ways. This doesn't often (very rarely) happen though. He is already getting what he wants, so why would he change?

This usually leads to a change as the girl matures into a woman (not necessarily age, but wisdom). Once they have realized that they have been treated like crap, or are done experimenting, they will look for the nice guy for a suitable person to spend their lives with. The ones that don't realize this, are often the ones that end up in abusive and awful relationships.

Moral of the story, the nice guys almost always win in the end. Regardless of how you think you need to act, just be yourself and do whatever you think is right. Worked for me. ; )

Oh, and as far as people thinking you might be gay... that can actually happen from time to time. Those people just don't understand (understandably at times) why you would act that way, but who cares?

Girls like the exciting part of the tough guy's personality and hope they can soften the edges enough to suit their needs. Trouble is they usually end up greatly disappointed in the outcome. After the girl cycles through a couple of these disappointments (some learn faster than others) the nice guy finally gets his day.

The nice guy is the type that won't take chances. A bad boy is the type of guy that u can have fun with and not having him worry about his pocket protector. Girls come to guys like u for friends not as a bf.

Ladder theory.

Men rate every woman on a ladder of sexual attraction.

Women (in general) rate every man as either a friend or a physically attractive on their respective imaginary ladders. A man can only be on one or the other. In the exception of love, the man is near the top of both ladders.

So, women will tend to date the men on their attraction ladder, rather than the friendship ladder.

It is my belief, however, that while women tend to date from the attraction ladder, they tend to marry from the friends ladder. Hang in there, it'll come to you eventually.
