To me, it means the same thing as surrender to life. I personally substitute the word "God" with "life" in every situation. I believe the word God is taken way out of context these days. To me, surrender to life/God means accept what is happening in life. If I resist what is happening, I will cause suffering in myself. I personally feel anxious, mad, disappointed, etc when I'm not surrendering. I feel a "negative" feeling in my body when I'm not accepting life. I will wish something different happened in the past or wish for something to happen in the future. If I can be present and accept what is, or in other words surrender to life, then I "feel" happier/better/etc. So for me this is why I practice surrender. The way I practice is just to say to myself to accept this moment, surrender, and meditate occasionally to help get some experience in being preset.
I'd recommend the book The Power Of Now by Eckhart Tolle. The whole book is NOT about religion or "God", but the entire book is actually all about your questions. It's available in an audiobook too, which I personally prefer.

It means when you do something wrong and you ask for forgiving you are surrender to God. You should because it is the Right thing to do. If you want God to work in you then you need to surrender ever thing. Pray and talk to God. Just tell him that you are surrendering to him. Tell him what you are surrendering to OK.

Believing God is the creator, and believing and following the word of God is surrendering to God. You should because you will be blessed, encouraged, at peace and sssure. U have nothing to lose if you do, everything to lose if you don't

To surrender yourself to God is to do his will above your own and yes you should. Start by knowing what his will is by reading the scriptures and praying for help in all things including being able to understand the deeper meanings in the scriptures.
