my friend's aren't catholic, so do JP's still do weddings.

No if you find a Justice of The Peace willing to do your ceremony out of the courthouse you don't have to.

You can look into getting a celebrant to officiate your wedding in the park, but I believe that the justice of the peace can officiate weddings outside of the courthouse as well.

I had a JP perform the ceremony at the reception hall. Outside in the gazeebo.
He was also the Chief of Police. Pretty cool.

In NC, they never do weddings outside of courthouse.
Do you know a Judge? My parents were married by a Judge beside a lake. I had traditional wedding.

Primarily, it depends on what state you live in. Here in Texas, you can have a JP come to your chosen location, but you have to pay them extra. I would suggest doing a lookup of your county and state.

No. I think you can set the place of your ceremony, then find a JP who will go there.

Yes, but sometimes they can come to the house. Depends where you live at.

In Kansas they will come to the location of your choice.
