What are some good ways to personalize your wedding? I'm not talking about your names written on the ribbon, or adding a monogram to the napkins or something like that. But adding things to the ceremony and reception that really reflect who the bride and groom are. For example, my fiance and I are HUGE fans of the Ramones. Our first dance is going to start off as Louis Armstongs "Wonderful World" and its going to fade into the Joey Ramone version. Things like that. Or, at a wedding you went too, what was done to make it memorable? Something funny, cute, romantic. Just an FYI, we are having a winter wonderland wedding. Thanks!!

During my niece's reception she has a video high up on the wall, so everyone could see from all over the room, and it had pics of her and her husband from birth through high school and college. They put them side by side one slide so you could see them at the same age in all of their events, accomplishments, hobbies, sports, etc. It was really nice especially since they had not known each other forever. The families and friends got to know the other's family, etc. At the end was their engagement pic, and then a pic of her in her gown, him in his attire (they were still on half of the slide), and then one of them together.as bride and groom(a quickie pic from after the wedding and made while everyone was in the reception line) It was beautiful like you had traveled through their lives and helped them begin a new stage in life together. You would make sure that winter pics would be included in to tie in with your winterland theme. With the Armstrong/Ramones part you could set up a small area that is decorated like it would have been back then, use lots of color and pics of them and maybe one table and 2 chairs. You might could dance there when it istime for your dance! You could use some white drape material, that matches your wedding, to kind of separate the sides of the area, not the front, from the rest and guests will know that it is there for a special reason. Special pics could be taken there as well. Another idea is to have a cozy table with hot chocolate and both mom's special cookies or after school snack. Use a chunky candle(decorated of course) and have marshmallow to toast on small skewers. I have a dry recipe for cocoa that you can make up as needed and you won't have it getting cold or have wasted money with lots of leftovers. That will keep the kids busy! But make sure there is an adult there to serve and keep them safe!

Oh so I guess the attendants carrying bird baths is out! How about a horse and sleigh like the one in the Narnia movie. That would be beautiful.
Two snowmen - one dressed as a bride the other dressed as a groom.

Oh ya I forgot to say Congratulations!

My nephew & his beautiful bride had a video slide show of them growing up, meeting each other, concerts she sang at, him riding his motorcycle, the house they bought, a quick kiss, the showers & etc. It was in an open area off of reception, we all loved it. Easy to personlize & helps families get to know the new spouse.

My oldest daughter had 2 little girls sing "Someday My Prince Will Come" to her husband. It was sooo cute & now it is her daughter's favorite video. At 3, she can sing the whole song.
Her Sorority Sisters came & sang - they did some kind of farewell song to make her an alumni. It was cool to see
10 Chi Omegas surround her & sing though.

My youngest daughter had all the guest use sparklers to wave as they left. It made awesome photos by photogragher.

Something good for all weddings is putting disposable cameras on all the tables so the guests take tons of candid shots and then collect them at the end of the night so you have tons of memories captured. Maybe you could include food in your wedding that you ate on your first date. And if you want to spend lots of time decorating the rec area you could make paper snowflakes and then tape/glue pictures of you guys from past dates/ events on them for all sorts of happy memories for guests to see.

I know it's kind of like names on a ribbon, but I liked it better. My aunt had purple m&m's personalized with our names, and one with the date of the wedding. We used them as confetti on the table because you don't have to clean it up!

When you light the unity candle there is usually some time when you're done but the song is still playing...why don't you dance together for a minute?

you could collect old black and white photos of lots of family members' weddings (grand parents, parents, aunts, siblings, etc), frame them in unique frames and put them out for your guests to enjoy, either on the guest tables or on the gift table, maybe even a designated table. sooo cute and special and unique. it'll also make your family feel more involved in your union.

you could add a little of your etenic background into the service/reception,write your own vows, light candles in memory of the family that has passed on,tell his parents what a great son they raised and how you look forward to being in their family(he does the same to your folks){ seen this on oprah},good luck, robin
