If you study the history of Islam, and also what is happening in the world today, you will see that Islam is spread by the use of violence. Almost every violent conflict taking place in the world today involves Muslims. In areas where Muslims are in control, such as Saudi Arabia, those who refuse to submit (by the way, the word 'Islam' means 'submission') are persecuted or killed. In areas where the Muslims are not in control, they have a specific approach to take control: First they infiltrate (many Muslims move from Muslim controlled areas to non-Muslim controlled areas, bringing their families and friends with them) using their growing influence to take control of local government offices, then they prepare for conflict by stocking weapons and such, and in the final phase, if the first two are not sufficient, they use violence to gain control.

You can learn more about Islam by asking Muslims, and studying their own literature, but do not only look at one side, examine all the facts.

In terms of sheer numbers, Christianity still garners more converts yearly. Islam's increases are mostly due to demographics and political policies that forbid apostasy, and not conversion to Islam. Other religions, like Mormonism and the Falun Gong variant of Buddhism, probably have a statistical growth rate much higher than that of Islam, and that DOES come from conversion.

Religion is not a popularity contest. Neither Christianity nor Islam are vindicated by their vast number of adherents. That's not to say either are discredited by large numbers of adherents, either. It is just that that really has no bearing.

Eh, I dunno about that. There are lots of buddists, jews and christians and the number of muslims keep decreasing due to suicide bombings. : )
