don't bother - insurance costs more than you would spend at the dentist just paying full price out of pocket. There are a number of discount dental plans that may work for you. If you have a lot of dental problems, maybe you should marry a dentist.

I just try to brush and floss my teeth a lot, and it keeps the dentist away.

Cheers!

Dental work prices are sooo high here. And insurance is so expensive, IF you even qualify. Here is an affordable alternative for you. A dental, vision, Rx, and chiropractic plan for only $11.95/mo Individual or $19.95/month for an ENTIRE houshold. Unlike insurance, there are no waiting periods, no claim forms, no limits on visits or services, ALL specialists are included, no deductibles, all on-going conditions are accepted, its 100% satisfaction guaranteed, and you save money EVERY time you use the plan! Let me know if this is something that will help you. We also have a very affordable health/medical plan. You should not be forced to pay full price for your healthcare, or have to pay hundreds of dollars a month for insurance that wont even help you with certain things. Even if you want to go to the dentist EVERY day, thats OK! Feel free to call me 7 days a week. Rachele Burke 541-258-7148

Even taking care of your teeth still means going to the dentist, so I don't understand the other answers which say to do so when you're asking how to save money while doing just that.
I recommend contacting a local dentistry college. Yes they will have students working on you, but they have to have their professors check and approve their work. This is so much cheaper than even just getting dental insurance for a lower price on visits and still paying the premiums. You may also be able to find free or highly discounted clinics if your financial state qualifies. You can find out more info on that for your specific location by making phone calls to clinics and even hospitals.
Good luck, and as much patience as you can muster. The process isn't so fun as to use it as a party game in the future, but it also doesn't last forever and is beneficial with dental costs in the US these days.

Insurance may be good if your teeth are bad and will require a lot of work. Best to keep your teeth in good shape, brush 3 times a day and floss. When you go in and if every time they want to take x-rays, say no, unless you are going in for a problem. If it is just for cleaning, don't have them. These jokers will try to sell you everything from mouth night gards to teeth whitening. Why is that? Because, a few decades ago they started to put floride in water and now we all have great teeth, so the dentists are losing business.

insurance helps, but here is my thought: if you go to the dentist regularly, get cleanings every 6 months, make sure to brush your teeth at morning and at night, and remember to floss, then you will have less dentist expenses because your teeth will be in better shape :) therefore you wont have bad teeth to worry about getting root canals, crowns, and fillings :)
