You really need to wait until he shows signs of "potty readiness". Is he letting you know when he is wet, is he letting you know when he has had a bowel movement, is his diaper dry in the morning, does he show an interest in using the toilet or potty? If you start before he is ready, it will be very stressful and upsetting for both of you.

Try using some cloth pull up diapers that do not have the micro fleece inner layer. They feel like undies and the child knows when they are wet. The microfleece is great at keeping the child feel like they are not wet and keep rashes away. But they won't realize they have gone potty. By having cotton against the skin, it will hold wetness and keep accidents from getting everywhere, and they can feel wet and it will help them to start associating the wet feeling with the pee pee feeling. And start talking to him about going to the potty when he pees. There are also some fitted diapers with no covers that will catch the pee and you can see when he pees too and immediatly take him to the potty. Don't force him to go as he probably already has. You just want him to start associating it all together. And get the idea. And you want it to be a pleasant experience. If he get's in trouble every time he might not want to do any of it. He might think in his mind, it was all much better when he wore diapers and then be resistant. He should enjoy learning something new. But the cotton diapers will help him both transition to underwear and learn what's happening.

I've have a two year old son. But he dose not talk well. Some hearing problems, So it harder to train. But just give it time. Me when we are at home I let him go nude(just a shirt). Yea a lot of people don't like to. But he goes all by his self.Well at first I would ask him all the time if he had to go. Just kept up with him and if he tells you no, then sometimes just put him on the pot in let them sit for a min. To see if they do but don't know yea that's what the potty is for. Some times let a male show him how to do it. But I have used the sitting on the potty first. I just so how proud I'm. By being so happy and clapping and all kinds of stuff like that. It get there attention. You known how they love the attention. In it work really good if you have more then one child.
Cause they known if they go potty that your going to pay attention to them.

With my son I used a little chart. It looked alot like a calendar. Little boxes however many you want. And everytime he went a night without peeing the bed (which in your case would be everytime he used the potty) I'd let him put a sticker in one of the boxes on his chart. When the chart was full I'd take him to Walmart or Toys R Us and let him pick out a toy. OR get creative and take him to his favorite place like Chucky Cheeses or the Zoo. Kids love to be rewarded. And my son loved to get to put stickers on his little chart. lol I taped the chart in the bathroom. But the refridgerater is a good place too. Tip: Hide the stickers! lol

When my little boy was being potty trained, he loved it when I'd drop a few Cheerios in the toilet and let him try to "hit" them with the stream of tinkle:-)
