We have a parrot that just does not like me. I don't know why. I've never been cruel to him/her, never had it sexed. The bird is very nice to my husband, but if I walk into the room it will even start biting him. Everytime I've tried to hold the bird it gets a good bite in. While in it's cage, it will start pounding it's toys against the cage real hard, or making a horrible clanking sound with it's beak on the cage, if I'm in the room.

What kind of a Parrot is it? Yes many Parrots tend to bond to one family member, but that does not mean it can not be trained to stop biting others.
A relationship with a bird is built on trust, if the bird is unsure of you then it will act out. Try spending more time with the brd when your hubby is not around, have treats to offer it, and try to build a trust between the two of you.

My friend has a parrot that loves her husband and hates her. He is very fond of the bird, is home all day and pretty much lets the bird do as he wants. She is working during the day, does not let the bird into certain parts of the house when she gets home and puts him in his cage at night (very carefully, she uses a towel for a buffer because he bites her). It's obvious why the bird loves him and hates her. Do you have a similar situation?

I have heard that parrots can tend to be very possessive and bond with only one person and then resent the others around. It sounds like the bird has bonded with your husband and sees you as competition or a threat for his attention/affection. Try talking to a vet or animal behaviorist and see if there is anything you can do to repair your relationship...good luck.

That happened to me! I have a cokatiel and it would always scream at me when i try to hold it. I learned that talking to the bird is best. When i piked him up i would use gloves since he would bite me a couple of timez before he got out of the cage. Try spending more time with it.

GOOD LUCK!=)

Parrots, birds etc can bond to just one person and become jealous of another person. they have intense personalities and they can be hard to figure out. it's not you, it's the bird. read up on them- what kind of parrot? do some research and it think you need to be a bit more 'alpha' with it. good luck

Maybe you should have it sexed and then get it a parrot hooker. I think the bird just needs to let off a little steam, that's all.

properly i imagine it truly is an truly good element. I actual have distinctive mixed thoughts on the placement so it isn't basic for me to talk freely. I understand that it truly is an glaring reality that our usa is likewise starting to be a spanish speaking lifestyle. I also understand that many different international places communicate distinct languages and it truly is a undeniable reality that English is the accurate spoken language contained in the international. even as I do agree that they ought to learn proper English first because it truly is maximum significant, I also understand that the developmental window for toddlers is of their earliest years. hence it makes the most experience to tutor it early. i am going to assert that I took it in my extreme college years and may communicate it purely fantastic. i do no longer in spite of the indisputable fact that believe the reality "why can't it is chinese" because the info and records tutor that Spanish speaking each and every individual is starting to be quick in our lifestyle, no longer chinese. it may well be stupid to benefit chinese at this element when we are in no pick to evolve to them. i do not see chinese human beings skipping the fence to flow the border. So i guess I agree that it might learn early...yet perchance no longer first grade. per chance starting up contained in the third grade may be an effective start up, or maybe 4th.

Pecking order. It is offended by your presence because it knows you are more important. (Are you?) Maybe your husband needs to treat you better in front of the bird so the bird knows you are more important.
Or maybe the bird knows that you are the cook....

Birds, especially parrots, usually take to "one person". Nothing person - the bird likes your husband more.

Birds are mean yucky little things. My sister has two of them. The one always bites my brother and nobody else.
