Of course they get paid. They do a lot more than just preach a service or two on Sunday. They minister to the emotional and spiritual needs of the congegation on a day to day basis and see to the running of the entire church and all its programs. they are there when congreation members are in the hopsital or in need. I addition to their salary, or as part of it, they are provided with a home for their family, near the church.

I grew up in the Bible belt and the preachers at all the churches I attended got paid a salary. Some of the larger churches provided a nice home for him and his family too. Being a preacher/leader of a church is a full time job and then some so it is right and fitting to pay him a fair salary.

Some get paid but other smaller chruches do not have enough money to pay the church's bills and the preacher, so sometimes a preacher has a day job.

It depends on the Church and size of the congregation. Some Preachers are bi-vocational and work two jobs to support their family and other preachers are full time and draw their salary from tithes and offerings to the Church.

Yes, they are paid by the people who attend the church. Each time a church member puts money in the collection plate or makes their weekly tithes (usually considered 10% of your weekly pay), this money goes to the pastor to pay for church expenses including not only the church building itself, but also his home, his vehicle, or any other financial needs that are designated by the church.

it depends on the religon. the original church Christ told them that the preachers are not to be paid but to donate their time. In my church my bishop is also a professor at the university near my home. He does not get paid for anything that he does for the church. Neither does our leader. No one in our church gets paid for offical church callings. I am a sunday school teacher, I don't see a penny, it is a labor of love.
I do know that in allot of other faiths they do get paid, and in the catholics they aren't allowed to have families.

Some do not, but most do get paid...most all Pastors do a whole lot more than just the Sunday hour bit... most put in way more time than 40hr week. Counceling is a big part of the job for most. Comforting the ill and injured and dying... marrying and burying and all manner of teaching and witnessing and on and on....

Some do, some don't. Depends on the denomination.
If they do not get paid to "preach," then they have another job to support themselves.

Yes, they get paid. Some churches give benefits, and others a parsonage (free house). Hey, I'm the organist at our church, and I get paid too!
