No way - there are too many ways to bribe people to get stuff marked with FDA approval.

Did you know that there is a certain percentage of rate poop allowed in the making of pre-package food??? The FDA says that if a candy bar only has a certain percentage of bugs and rat crap and chemical poisons (to kill those bugs and rats) it's ok for you to eat... go figure

NO you should not trust the FDA, for a couple of reasons:
1. When Mad Cow disease became a big problem Japan started testing 100% (YES ONE-HUNDRED PERCENT) of their beef products for MCD before it reached the shelves, and still do so to this day. THE FDA HAS NOT done this because they dont want to hurt big buisness, and if one was positive it would ruin the American Beef Industry. THUS JAPAN DOES NOT allow the importation of American Beef

2. Look at the label on your vitamin bottle, look for where is says, "This statement has not been evaluated by the FDA". Do you know why that is? Because whatever product (if it is suppose to help the body) FDA evaluates becomes labeld as, DRUGS.

3. Just look at how many drugs are out there, and with all there negative effects, remember the Ephedrin problem?

HOWEVER

1. The FDA takes most food and drug issues seriously and wont hesitate to pull products off the shelf even if only 3 people reported hazards of a product. Take for instance Wolf Gang Puck's Instan Coffe. The FDA pulled it as soon as a couple of people reported being burned by a very BASIC (just as bad as ACID) component that was used to heat the coffee

Well, I'm a doctor and they do a great job. And I can say I trust them because I use their resources all the time. If you knew how they work you would probably know that all those myths about financing or protecting pharmaceutical companies are pretty much that, myths.

No.They approved aspartame as a sweetener to replace sugar for all the poor fools that think sugar is fattening.Aspartame can cause brain seizures in a small percentage of the population.I for one do not wish to find out whether i am part of that small group.

Not since the emergency contraception debacle where they refused to grant over-the-counter access because they're ridiculously influenced by politics.
