Yes, if the Mother or Father has AIDS the child will most likely get it, unless the Mother or Father got AIDS after the child was born...and said Mother or Father did not have HIV or anything related to AIDS earlier

No, AIDS isn't heriditary. If someone is infected with the disease and they share a needle or have sex with someone without protection there is a chance a person could become infected. You get HIV first then AIDS. So, be sure to always use protection (condoms) if you are going to have sex and don't do drugs or share needles!

NO, when there wasnt enough technology, aids would be passed from mother to child during birth when the fluids would mix, but now doctors know enough to prevent this

No. AIDS is caused by the HIV virus (human immunodeficiency virus) and is only transmitted through contact with bodily fluids. A woman that is HIV positive may or may not transmit the virus to her fetus. Other than that, this illness is not hereditary.

Only if the mother gives it to the child when it's born. But it is not a genetic trait.
To Single Mom: It's not ALWAYS passed on to the baby. You need to read up on it before you scare people like that.

No silly, it is a sexually transmitted disease, and it will kill you! There is no cure so always protect yourself! If a woman is pregnant and has aids her baby will have aids because it is attached to her body and the blood flows from her to her baby, they are connected through the umbilical cord.

No,it's the risky behavior. Needles, unprotected sex, blood transmission, from mother to child...but not without those conditions. If you were born from a mother who had AIDS, then it's a strong probability, you too would have it.

AIDS is a disease, it is not genetic. A mother can pass it to the child in childbirth or by nursing the child.

In the sense that mothers who are infected with HIV often pass it along to their children when they are carrying them, it is hereditary. BUT it is not genetic!!!!! Big difference! In fact, if an HIV+ woman takes meds during her pregnancy, she can minimize the risk of her baby having HIV at birth.

No. It's not.
But say, if a woman is pregnant and she has aids, then there maybe a chance that the baby gets it.
