For about 2 weeks, my veins have looked much bluer or purple through my skin, and I have been able to see a lot of my veins (face, arms, chest, etc.) in places they couldn't be seen before. Does anyone know why this would suddenly happen?

Get a tan.you need to be exposed to sunlight. besides everyone veins show. You may not see them but they can.Just like only you know if you have a mark but no one can see it, that's because you are use to your body and know what a difference look like.

My top guess would be like DeShane's. At first, I thought there might be a chance you were losing tan from being indoors a lot- but that wouldn't explain seeing veins in your face.

Perhaps a call to the doctor to ease your fears...

...on the other hand...

this reaction is typical of women who have been infected and are in the process of completely transforming their mind and body into hideous barbaric beasts from planet Zorktron. Despite your eventual enormous size and greenish color, as well as the painful and disgusting transformation you will undergo, you will possess some pretty amazing super-powers. Please, start off slowly, and remember to use your powers for good and not evil.

There are 3 things one must consider; age, temperature outside and loss of the fat pad under the skin... usually a factor of aging.
