Here's my thought. Whenever we say, "Don't cross," human nature dictates that people will cross just to test the rule. What if we said, Go freely. Cross back and forth. We won't even bother you. Wouldn't that actually reduce the number of crossings because there would be no rule to break?

the problem isnt the want of human nature to disobey, if it were this would be a simple answer, the problem is much more complicated.
contributor no 1 to the problem...
you have in mexico a population who live on less than 5 dollars a day, and since the price of stuff in mexico isnt completly inflated, so like a 3 bedroom house is somehting like 6 thousand dollars
contributor to the problem no 2
a gross labor shortage in america, the fact is that most people that want jobs have jobs, the thing is our jobs arent paying us enough to live anymore, so often times poeple end up working multiple jobs to replace income or to maintain our ultra high lvl of consumerism. case in point... the average meat packer 20 years ago made 20 dollars an hour, and the average meat packer now makes 9
contributor no 3
many many small american buisnesses cant aford to hire americans due to the current tax codes, as a matter of fact, having employees can often times cost you more than they will make you legally especially in the fica and federal taxes, which the employer has to match (so if an employer paid a person say 10 dollars an hour, and they were taxed a standard 28 %, then the employer would be paying out 2.8 dollars per hour the employee worked as well) btw, alot of these problems go away when an employer reaches 50 employees... hmm rich getting richer? this climate also makes hiring undocumented workers particularly inviting, since people can circumvent alot of the taxes then.
contributing problem no 4
bigger biusnesses get away with paying these people less than they pay natives, with the idea that they couldnt negotiate a better wage (walmart is involved in a lawsuit like this btw, as are alot of other companies) thereby capitolizing and giving more incentives for them to come in the first place and then discriminating against them by paying them less for the same job, think about that next time you go to wally world
contirbuting problem no 5
the toal dependence of your scocial security number as an identifier and the relative ease of getting a credit card or just credit in general. if someone can get a decent fake scocial security card (not a hard card to duplicate btw) with a real number and a fake name, then credit cards will come easy, making it easy to scam people with very little effort, and in reality, very little chance of ever being caught, think of how many credit card appilications you get a year... now just for fun, put your scocial security number on one and your pets name, then rip the application up and retape it together, and see if you get the credit card 2-3 weeks later
last problem i see
often times, employers would love to give an american the job, but the fact is there are more jobs than there are people looking for them in many places, for the buisness to stay viable you have to have that position filled either by paying someone overtime (costly, and bad for morale) or by just getting a warm body in the job, who may or may not understand a word of what your telling him/her
so to sum it all up... you have a huge labor pool who will work for cheap ,add in employers who either cant afford to hire americans and pay them enough to live on or would try to save a buck and increase proffits to please stock holders and this with a tax system that favors larger employers over small = immigration problems.... this is a haves and have nots problem
the statistic i never see though is how many illegals go back to mexico after a certiain period of time? im thinking most dont stay and make this thier home...

Only problem with that, I don't see people flocking accross the Border form the US to mexico ( of course if you did you would be thrown in jail in Mexico as an illegal)

I don't see 1000's flocking accross the border into Canada,

I don't see germany being invaded by 1000' of french

In almost all of the world, people actually protect thier borders and it is a serious crime ( being punished by death in some places) try just wondering into China or North Korea and see what happens.

No free and open borders would not stop the immigrants from coming. Making life hard on them here, and maybe taking a page from Mexico on how they deal with illegal immigrants might just solve the problem.

No, it wouldnt work, Mexico would empty out completey.

Did you know the mexicans are saying they are coming here to do the jobs americans wont do, but now the guatemalens are illegally going to mexico to do the jobs that the mexicans are leaving, which they obviously dont want to do or they would not be leaving them, so isnt that kind of Hypocritical?

They don't cross because we tell them not to.

They cross because they do not have universal education and even minimal health care in their countries, and can have us pay for it for them here. They also make a lot more here.

The criminals come for crime and a different jurisdiction to exploit.

Open borders are our problem, not a solution.

people follow opportunity whether percived or real, borders breed contempt but stop only the meek, greed breeds fear of loss or invasion. only the loss of greed would resolve the issues created by borders.

they come here for free healthcare, good jobs, and free education. I think Mexico would be empty if we had open borders.

OK, but open the border to just your state and see how it goes. I don't want any more of them here in my state. Can we send them all to your house, please?
