We have been going though the same thing. We told our pediatrician and have since had an eeg and an mri. Eeg was abnormal and mri was normal.
You need to first call your pediatrician and let them know what you are seeing. You will probably be sent to a neurologist for testing. You might try to start keeping track of the details such as do his eyes roll or look in a certain direction everytime he has the seizures.
Fevers can definitely increase seizures but I am not so sure about just hot weather.
Go see your pediatrician about this, if it is nothing at least your mind will be put to rest.
One other thing. Since there is some indication that your son is having absence seizures, keep careful tabs on his progress through the developmental milestones. If he begins to lag then you will want to discuss medications with your doctor. We have chosen not to medicate our daughter at this point because she is still on track very well and the doctor agreed.

Heat is not a cause of seizures but added stress is not good if someone has seizures. The cause of seizures is still widly unknown but usually due to poison.
I've never heard of a "staring seizure", you might want to take him to a doctor because it does not sound like an actual seizure. If they are actual seizures they could be very serious and should be treated with phenobarb.

staring seizures sounds like petite mal seizures, he could have been born with it, or it can be caused by a high fever, etc. Get him to the doctor, and have an EEG run to see if he has abnormal brainwave activity. There are meds that can control these kind of seizures. They don't use phenobarbitol or dilantin as much as they used to, there are much more effective meds without the side effects. Good luck.

I agree, you should speak with your pediatrician, but I can tell you that seizures can be brought on from a multitude of sources, the most prevalent being overstimulation, which in a two-year-old, can be brought about by heat exhaustion. Be extremely careful. Note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR!

It's definatly a seizure. Seizures aren't just shaking and what not, but are also what you are describing. I would definatly talk to you child's doctor and see a neurologist. If your doctor doesnt listen to you or believe you, keep trying, cause a mother always knows best.

There are a lot of triggers for petit mal seizures, but then again they can happen "just because".
I'd think that talking to a physician would be a good idea.

I don't think the weather has anything to do with it. He is having "petit mal" seizures... you need to get him on medication for this... it's serious. Don't listen to what people tell you... get medical help from a liscenced professional... please take him to the Doctor...it's not something to ignore. Good Luck.
