I was having a nice conversation with a girl and during that conversation, I asked her out on a date. We made tentative plans to go out and I gave her my phone number so she could call me to set up plans to meet for a night out. Why would she agree to go out and yet never plan to go out with me at all? Why not just say she is not interested. Its not like guys haven't heard no before.. What's the reasoning behind it? Girls please give me some insight....

maybe she didn't want to come right out and say she's not interested. guys get dicky when you tell them things like that. it hurts their egos and maybe she didn't want to hurt yours. or maybe something came up and she couldn't call you.

I wouldn't have got my hopes up if I were you, if you never got her phone number. I look @ it as girls don't enjoy getting hurt, so we don't wanna hurt others. I think if she had to plans on going out w/ you that she shouldn't have made it all seem as if she was. More than likely what most do or @ least me ... I wouldn't have came out & said I wasn't intrested, but gave you a, "Yah, maybe we can go out sometime." or, "I'm always busy, but I can try to make time." in a round about way putting it as you aren't intrested, but in a nice way to a maybe. You really never know though, everyone thinks the same, but just remember girls have more respect for feelings than most men.

I don't understand chicks (or guys for that matter), but there could be any number of reasons why. The only way to know is to ask and hope she is honest. Some people have their own issues. Try not to take it personally. It's her issue, not you.
If you feel comfortable you could ask her again and get her number if you haven't already. You could also tell her the honest truth on your end - that she could just say no and that you respect honesty.

I think that sometimes people feel like they are being put on the spot and either it sounds good at the time or they are afraid to say no. Then they get to thinking about it and then they realize that they really don't want to go out with someone.
If I have my doubts I tell them no. I know what it's like to be led on and I don't want to do that to another person.
I know that guys can be that way with girls too

Dude, girls just like the attention. They get off on thinking that they could have any guy at any time. They do this to everybody. Alot of times guys will buy them things thinking that this girl really wants to get to know them when it's all just a big show. Forget her and move on! It's not worth the time!

She might be afraid to hurt your feelings and I hate to say this but maybe she did it to mess around but I think it is the first choice. I think you are right people shouldnt be afraid to let the others know how you really feel about them but that happens and I can understand that.

i'm sorry. i have exactly the same experience.
we were in high school and this guy was really nice to me.
we always flirted and cuddled at school.
i thought it's pure friendship.
then he asked me out.
i didn't wanna disappoint him so i said ok.
but deep inside i had no interested in goin out with him
so the night before the date, i called him and told him that i was sick.
i think she was just trying to be nice to you. she didn't wanna hurt your feelings.

you asked her out on a date? did you ask a definite date, time and place for the date? if you have definite plan on a date and the girl said no...well maybe she's not interested.. girls doesn't like to plan dates... we want to be invited out for a date but if we still have to think of where and when, no thanks...

Girls are afraid to say no to your face. Many girls do not like confrontation and so it's easier to say yes to your face and later forget about it. Not that this is right - it's just less scary.

Did she tell you that she never planned to go out with you at all or are you just assuming that? Maybe she's busy. Maybe she has to wash her hair.
