I think so to a certain degree and extent.
I think that if the basic training bases ("Boot Camp") of the various branches were relocated at and near the border, then the recruits as part of "On the Job Training" could be trained, culturized and serve a practical and cost saving service to the country while they do guard and monitor the border. This would also provide relatively safe leadership training opportunities for officers and enlisted personnel of all branches of both the regular and reserve/national guard components.
Then maybe also our military would be capable and trained sufficiently to keep the "terrorists" out of Iraq while the U.S. occupies it.

Yes, a few machine guns, a tank or two ( land mines are not legal for war any longer, remember we have alot of laws and rules to fighting, we can't merely fight and do whatever it takes to win, but can't break any of the rules now)
INS could carry off the ones that make it cross the second fence.

no mans land, ok.
fences as a deterrent, good - i've seen pics where 10 cars would ram them down at a time to get through
Can't use landmines
soldiers good
there's no such thing as INS, it's Homeland Security now. And they back open borders and the SPP. spp.gov.

First of all we need a firm LEADER... get rid of the Congress and the Supreme Court. All we need is a strong leader to rule us with an iron fist, heck we'll build big bronze statues of him in all the towns and worship him at noon... and if you refuse you will be shot! Then we can round up all the white folk and put them all in underground (unmarked graves) bunkers (in order to keep them nice and safe, of course), then nuke the heck out of everything and start over. SCREW YOU & AND YOUR "militarized border" THINK BIGGER !
POLICE STATE NOW!

I thought it would be a good idea to take illegals as prisoners, and force them to build a limestone wall along the boarder ... it would be free labor, save the tax payers money, get our wall up , punish the illegals with out packing prison to the brink.
Plus , if you make a Mexican work, that will scare them off fast .

nicely, we positive favor to do something to protect get admission to to our united states. we've illegals pouring for the time of and draining our economic equipment (Social amenities) and drug sellers transporting in simple terms about unimpeded into the U. S., and open get admission to to those who favor us below success. the protection force is the purely element i visit imagine of that could want to attempt this. i'm not keen on the idea, yet we hit upon ourselves in a situation the position, after a lengthy time period of state of no interest and if we are going to make a real attempt, we would want to take drastic measures. i do not provide a damn what all of us who doesn't might want to stay the following has to assert!

Great. Another hole in the ground to pump our money into. Maybe this country's economy is going down the drain because Republicans are spending all of our tax dollars on inane projects like this...
I'm just kidding. The whole system, both parties, they're all corrupt in this respect. Republicans just wear it on their sleeve.

I don't agree with mines. Crossing the border should not be a death penalty crime. Other than that, fine. But I want a LOT of fences.

What if a 9-year-old is crossing alone, which actually happens. Kids cross to meet their parents on the other side. Would you shoot down a kid?

Nope. Enforce the laws that we have now by fining and imprisoning the employers. I am not sure why we are spending all that money when all we have to do is enforce the laws.
