i wouldnt touch that with a ten foot pole means i wanna get as far from that as i can cos its nasty and ten feet is pretty far if you touched it with a 2 foot pole youd be closer to the gross thing, right? :)

hhhmmph... maybe it has something to do with one of the poles to pitch a tent... maybe they were 10ft in length in the old days and maybe the expression started from fending off wild animals using the pole.
