Mullet ! If you live near salt water anywhere along the Gulf Coast here are the tricks. Find a calm spot in a brackish water river. Take half a cake of Cottonseed Cake, You can buy it at a feed store . Put the cake in a burlap bag with a brick and toss into a nice spot to fish from. Let the bit set for a couple of days.
Use a # 10 hook, 4 or 6 lb test line, a 14 foot cane or Bream Buster pole. A 1/16th oz shot and a clear bubble bobber. I use small pieces of bacon, I mean very small, Shoe Peg corn is also good. Drop the bait next your Cotton Seed Cake and watch you bobber. If it moves at all , set the hook. A Mullet is very slick about biting and you will not know he is there if you do not watch. A Mullet will rarely take the bait and run like a Bream or Bass. However when hooked , hold on ! He will put up a good fight.
Good fishing. Hmmm Did I tell you to bring plenty of patience ?

This is what you will need. A small hook about size #10. Some lead, split shot because less weight the better. A bobber or float. And for bait , red worms, frozen green peas, or dough balls. One worm, or one pea, or one small dough ball, whatever you use you want to hide the hook as much as possible.
Here in Florida if mullet are in relatively calm water people "chum" them with floating catfish food or dog food, but usually the day before. I, myself, if I see 'em I fish for 'em.

Your best bet is to invest $25-$40 in a cast net. You can catch them by the bushel.
