He's probably dreaming something good during that time. Excited I guess you could say.

He's dreaming about something. Maybe chasing an animal or eating a steak or something that dogs do. Hopefully they are good dreams and not nightmares.

He's dreaming. Watch his eyes, he should be having rapid eye movement (REM) at the same time. It's really fun to watch and sometimes, they'll growl or bark or yip at the same time.

dogs have the habit to breath heavily as humans do it depends on what they are dreaming about like my dogs runs in her sleep or the dog has a this thingamigig i forget wat its called but ill get bac to u

my dog does it 2 but he also twitches hes just dreaming its normal
