There are many factors that could account for the lowering of the life spans after the flood. The Bible states that the flood would not only destroy the land dwelling air breathing animals but it would also destroy the earth. (Gen. 6:13; 9:11)

After the flood the earth was completely different than the earth before. There were widespread global differences. These would include changes in the climate, composition of the atmosphere, hydrologic cycle, geologic features, cosmic radiation reaching the earth, ozone concentration, ultra violet light, background radiation, genetics, diet, and a host of other subtle and/or profound chemical and physiological changes. These changes caused a rapid decline of the longevity of post flood humanity. Many ancient historians have written about this fact.

In the bible, God limits human life to 120 years in Genesis 6:3. Somehow, Abraham lives to be 175 years old. Also, documents show that some people have lived to be over 120.

No one in the past lived longer lives than we do now in general. It is a mistranslation. I can't believe so many people on here really thought that those numbers in the Bible are meant to be taken literally.

well, they supposedly lived up to 10000 years in the beginning and as time went on and they introduced impurities into their bodies and spirits their spans shortened......makes no sense but what in the bible does?

well, it's simple - they didn't live to be 500 years old. just because it's in the bible, doesn't make it true.
