Calm down sweetie and call your doctor or go visit the ER. They are there to assist you any way they can. You may be in labor as you type, and it's just not far enough along to "be that bad". Honey, you are never going to be "ready" to give birth, you are a little late to worry about that NOW! God Bless you and Good Luck, I will pray for you not to be scared. What is scaring you? Talk to your doctor to calm your fears, doesn't sound like your family knows what they are doing.

I really think (but remember I am not there with you) they are "false" labor. The way to tell sometimes is to change position, recline back and try to relax. Usually false labor pains will change or subside when you do this. Also watch the time. False labor is typically very sporadic with contractions. Also false labor pains tend to change or get further apart as time goes on. If they continue after all of this, or get closer together as time goes on, call the ob unit in the hospital you are going to and inform them of what you are experiencing. They will tell you if you should go in or continue monitoring yourself. They will want to know how far apart the contractions are, and how "intense" they feel to you (does it cause you an extreme amount of pain or just some discomfort).

Are you having contraction that you feel in your lower back as well? How far apart are the pains? Is there any increase in vaginal discharge or spotting? These are some of signs of pre term labor. Depending on what your medical history has been throughout your pregnancy you may want to just take a trip to the ER to be on the safe side or at the very least call your health care provider and list your symptoms to them. Pre term labor can be very serious condition for you and your baby so take the apropite medical steps. Your family, unless they are physicians, may not undertand or know your medical hisotry as well as your OB so call them. Your office should have a OB on call for tese specific inquiries. Good LUck

Ok well i had contrations most of the pregnacy. With my daughter i had her at 36 weeks and 4 days so its not unlikly. I would be condered if the contrations we coming all the time. When i was in labor with my daughter i know this may sound weird but i had pain in my sides. Turns out i was in labor and there was no stoping it i think you should at least discuss it with your dr they can always bring you into the office to check it never hurts. And by now you should be going quite often anyways i would make sure to mention it to the dr or nurse or whoever. But i had contrations for many weeks before i had my daughter your baby will come when it is good and ready my daughter was just ready 3 and half weeks early. Good luck and i will tell you right now you will never be ready for that baby. It just kinda hits you all at once and can be overwhelming thats what happened with my daughter and she was my second baby. Good luck and it will all work out.

Remember the baby is heavy and they press on your nerves and its hurts. You are probadly having some contractions because the baby is starting to push down. You will know when you are in full labor. Usually you get like a pink mucus that comes from the vagina. or your water bag breaks and that is a lot of water sometimes it will trickle. But you are getting ready to deliver soon if it gets really bad time the contractions and call your doctor. They will advise you from a professional level and that is the advice you should take.

Unless your water breaks you should be fine.

Start by calling the maternity ward nurse's station at your local hospital. Explain to them what you are feeling and ask them if they think you should come in and get checked out or if it sounds like you should be safe til Monday when you can see your doctor.

They should be able to explain to you how to tell whats a real contraction and whats a false one. The maternity ward is open all night and maybe talking to a nurse that deals with labor and false labor on a regular basis can reassure you, you can get some rest.

If your water breaks though, get your butt to the emergency room asap!

Best advice I received came from a nurse (my cousin). I always heard that labor pains were just terrible. Unfortunately for me, mine were like the cramps you catch in your butt from exercising. She advised me to take a bath in the hottest water that I could stand. If the pain stop, it was braxton hicks, if not I was in labor. Mine didn't stop, bout time I got out of the tub my contractions were five minutes apart. I left and went to the hospital and had my baby about an hour later.

At this stage in your pregnancy the baby is lower and everything has shifted, and you get what is called hicks contractions, they are false contractions. Do not worry about it as long as you do not have any discharge of any kind, and your water has not broke. It will feel at times that you think your going to have it but that is just your body telling you that you are ready, I experienced alot of pain and discomfort my last month and I carried my baby all the way to my due date. Good Luck!

It's most likely early labor...but, best to consult your doctor. He/she will know best...everyone else is just guessing.

Edit...sorry, I mistyped. I meant to say most likely false labor. (But, you never know, it could be early labor - I just had a friend who delivered 5 weeks early - and it happened all of a sudden. Everything is okay with her & the baby, but she wasn't ready yet either. But, in the end, you adapt, and things will work out.)

I had the Braxton-Hicks contractions in my eighth and ninth months. I sat down (or layed down) and timed them. They usually went away in a few minutes. They subsided once I stopped working (the stress of the job increased the contractions) and drank more water. (Being a bit dehydrated and bring on the Braxton-Hicks).

If this happens to you, then it's "false labor."
