It depends on how long he is sleeping at night. Does he sleep through the night? A child this age should be getting 12-14 hours of sleep per day (in a 24 hour period). If you let him nap too long during the day, it will be difficult to get him to bed at bedtime (which should be the same time everyday). If he doesn't nap enough, then he will not sleep well during the night, and most likely wake up for extended periods of time. How active is your son, maybe you are wearing him out a lot? At that age, my son took two naps a day, ranging from 1-3 hours each and slept 10 hours at night. Two naps is typical for 11 months, and limiting it to two might make them longer, which may make it easier for you to get things done. How do you know he is having a growth spurt?

He's sounds okay yet it depends on his size and height and needs as an individual...over 2 hours and maybe it'd be a problem but that also would depend on how long he sleeps at night...so factors you have to consider depend on the individual toddler, and technically he's 1 more month away from really being a toddler but some babies now a days already have that tallness, or fullness (plump) of a toddler's size and can wear the clothes so I included what might interest you to know as a mom...
(try calling your insurance company's ASK-A-Nurse hotline and seeing if you can go over anything he ate with them, they will fax the concerns to his Pediatrician and then the Ped can find out if it's a food allergy or too much or not enough of something, you know rule out the obvious, low blood sugar ect.)
after all it's say at
http://www.itsamomsworld.com/toddler_sleep_nap.html
"While the amount of sleep a toddler needs varies from child to child, the ideal length of nap times at this age is between one and two hours. Sleeping for longer than that can interfere with your toddlers sleep at night and before you know it, you'll have a kid with sleep problems on your hands"

and I also checked out
http://toddlerstoday.com/resources/articles/pillowtalk.htm
"While it may be essential for one toddler to sleep a full 10 hours at night and take a two-hour nap each afternoon, a sibling may not need that much sleep and may be able to skip a nap altogether."
Hope I helped you!

Your son is totally fine. Many babies at that age take two naps every day, an hour or so in the morning, and an hour to three hours in the afternoon. Your son seems to just be spreading his naps around a bit. Probably makes it tough for you to get anything done outside of the house, but as long as you're able to put him to bed at night and expect him to sleep through, he's fine napping as much as he wants to.

Day care guide lines state , if a child is sleepy and takes the nap , do not wake them , their body needs the sleep . I had a child sleep 2 -3 hours but I later learned she was kept up late at home and woke up at 5 am to be dropped off .

Your son could be suffering from lack of iron, which makes him sleepy. I would have a doctor run a blood test just to be safe. Most likely your son just needs extra sleep while he is growing. If he is doing a lot of activity during the day, that too would be cause for long naps.

Normal.

Don't worry about it. Our son did the same thing, and now, at 3, he can still be down for 3.5-4 hours for a nap. Sleep is good. It's when the body and mind catches up with itself.

Every child is different. My 19 month old takes one two hour nap. I got him to do this by holding off his morning nap....keeping him awake, that way he sleeps longer in the afternoon. Mom's need down time too!

Never wake a sleeping baby!

my son has always taken a 3 hour nap everyday. Once a day. I really don't think you should be worried about it.
