We don't want to become the thing we hate. It's useless and annoying. However, if you are ever able to get your hands on all the Jehovah Witnesses addresses in the area, I'd be glad to give them a knock knock and tell them the great news!

You have nothing to preach. In fact what you have is nothing.

If there is no God, then you are going to live out your life and suffer with your problems and die, and that is it.

That is what everyone does anyway, so why would you go door to door to persuade people that their mundane existences are in fact their mundane existences.

A religious person has a message that they believe offers hope. A promise of victory over death.

The average person lives their life, suffers their problems, grows old and dies, and that is all there is.

I am sure it would be really helpful for athiests to go around reiterating those points.

The only thing that an atheist gets from his atheism is the satisfaction of thinking that he has mastered some kind of pure rationalism that makes him better than other people. But you are going to die too. Unless your pure rationalism has given you victory over death, then you will take your self satisfaction straight to the grave with you and the net result will be the same.

If I take a sh*t in the middle of somebody's front yard, the end result is a sh*t. If I take a sh*t in lobby of a five star hotel, the end result is still a sh*t. If I play music, or even get a marching band and some baton girls and create all kinds of fanfare like my sh*t is real special it is still a sh*t.

You have no message to bring. Your message is nothing, therefore you should do nothing.

why would not beliving in something be cause to go door to door? What strikes me as strange is the amount of energy some atheist put into making other people buy what they have to say. I mean for crying out loud, a war memorial cross in san Diego really does not interfere one bit with any atheist anywhere, and yet courts have ordered it down because of an atheist.

Hmmm

Not only would there be a violent reaction to atheists going door to door, but that would make us no better than all the religions that try to force their beliefs upon others.

Yeah, if atheists feel so strongly about the matter and feel that the rest of the world should be educated, why don't they teach others about it? The most effective method of education is one on one and going door to door is definitely one on one!

Atheism is more of a position than a belief system and you can't promote a position. Going door to door is more about saving people than increasing your ego by making people agree with you.

Is it important enough? Let's see... Do I think it's important enough to go knocking on doors to educate people who are already afraid of God, shaking their belief systems to the point of failure, and forcing them to admit that they are like children being toyed with by scores of organized zealots who take their money, dominate their very existences, and keep them living in mental squalor?

Sure, I'm in. Pick me up in 15 minutes...

If you start going door to door you might get a few Pagans that will do the same.

Its because our religion is highly misunderstood.

Most people believe Atheists worship the devil and this is wrong, only Satinists worship the devil, Atheists chose science over the belief in a god or gods.

If we were to go door to door and promote our religon [or rather our BELIEF] to the massess there would be terrible consequences. Hard-headed christians whom only want to hear what they believe is right would end up doing somethng stupid like trying to make it banned for "evil" people to go door to door.

Or open Atheists would get publiclly humilated and battered much like open homosexuals do.

Its an unfair fight.. but someones got to fight it.

If you want to "preach" our belief, then do it online or to friends and family who believe in god.

[also, most people who go door to door handing out pamplets are wasting their time. most people just throw the pamplets away or use them to pick up disgusting things like I do. lol]

If you go door to door..... see ya when someone manages to bail you outta prison. That will be a Christian who landed you there. They might just tell you to get a *****en life or that your crazy. I guess you have an opinion, that's fine, but allot of people won't take that kind of crap.
