ooooooh, honey, I did that once. Black is tough to lift.
Here's an important question to ask yourself: how long have you been dying your hair black? If you only did it once, or even twice, and there is not a lot of other colors underneath it, you will be able to get it up with bleach in one go, and you'll have pink hair by tomorrow night. You might need to leave the bleach on a little longer than recommended on the box (like an extra 10-15 minutes), but it's worth it to only have to bleach once.
If you have been doing this black dying thing for while, or if you have lots of other permanent colors under it, you will have to bleach it more than once. You will have a weird rust color left on your hair, and you need to get rid of that rust before you can get a really good pink. My recommendation would be to bleach it, leave the bleach on for 5 minutes more than what's on the box, and then wait a week. During that week, don't wash your hair but give it a hot oil treatment once and condition it every day. Then, bleach it again, but just long enough to get the rest of the rust color out, so check your hair often and get the bleach out as soon as it is gone.
Use a vegetable-based dye, like Manic Panic, rather than a chemical-based one like Punky colors, because chemical-based dyes after all that bleach will really wreck your hair, but Manic Panic won't damage it more after all that bleach.
Pink is a great hair color, I hope you love it, and good luck!

I've had no problems bleaching my hair when it's dyed black, but it also depends on what brand. Some cheap dyes will turn your hair green permanently. Manic panic 40 vol works great, but it BURNS. It will feel like your hair is going to fall out. You could also use the loreal super blonde which doesn't hurt. If the color is a hot pink than it will cover up anything that doesn't come all the way out. But you need to give your hair time inbetween bleaching.

I'm not sure if you're adding highlights or talking about dying all of your hair.
Anyway, stripping the color from your hair can be very tricky if it's been previously chemically treated or dyed. Since black dye usually stains the hair shaft due to it's high pigment content, you're probably going to need a good color stripper before you can even attempt to bleach it.
I suggest that if you don't want to look like a Barbie Pink haystack, you see a stylist, and have them remove the color from your hair. Then you can dye it at home yourself.
At least, that's what I'd do...
Cheers.

My wife has been a cosmetologist for nearly 25 years. She stated that it would be unlikely that you could get the black out of your hair. Black absorbs all the way through the hair particle. The bleach may lighten it up, but wouldn't take the black completely out. You could also damage your hair severely.
The best way to do it, is to let the black color grow out... Which could take months.

It'll take a LOT of bleach to do it....and your hair will be almost irreprably damaged afterwards. I tried to bleach my hair for baby-blue streaks in high school and it never looked right.
Pink it out if you have to, but make sure you're ready to deal with how thin, damaged, and fragile your hair will be afterwards.

Nature made you beautiful the way you were born, do you really think that there is any thing that man makes that will make you more beautiful.
Everyone wants the REAL thing, not something made up to resemble what it is not.
Or don't you feel that you are beautiful! If you do not, then nothing is going to help your self esteem
