Normally, I do not insult religious people. However, I do become angered and sometimes do insult them because they do not respect my lack of belief or lack of religion when they try to convert me. I'll give you an example...an acquaintance of mine knows that I am a non-Church goer, a non-believer, whatever and she chooses to enter into a religious conversation with me. I told her, I am no longer a believer but that I have studied in parochial schools my entire life and been a Christian so I know the scriptures probably better than she does. However, she continues to push my buttons and finally attempts to end her conversation with me by telling me that my children will go to hell because I have not baptized them.

Now, who was the insulting one? I told her that she was proving my point about hypocritical "Christians" by dragging my children and hell into the conversation because she was trying to be mean with that comment. I told her that if I had believed in Hell I'd tell her she'd go directly to Hell herself. The belief that you will go to Heaven just because you're a Christian abounds now a days when the Bible states that few people will indeed qualify as good Christians to go to Heaven.

So, to answer your question, no I do not insult people whose beliefs differ from my own. I do, however, become angered when they don't respect my views enough to leave me alone, in peace.

To believe or not to believe, to attend Church meetings or gatherings or not to attend, to read religious writings or not to read is my own, God given right. I say God given because the Bible does state that we have free will...if that's not good enough the US Constitution also gives me the inalienable right to choose my own religion or not to choose one.

Respect me, my views, and my choice and I shall respect yours. After all, that is also the Golden Rule...treat others as you'd like to be treated.

Well I'm an agnostic, but I believe that it's impolite to insult anyone based on their beliefs. If you're a Christian or a Jew or a Muslim, I'll respect you and defend your rights to believe what you will. I think that many "angry atheists" have had bad experiences in their lives with religion or had it forced upon them as children. There are some times though, when a guy wearing a shirt that says "abortion is murder and that God hates Gays" comes and shouts at you, it's hard not to argue or unravel his argument.

I would hope that both athiests and christians (and buddhists, hindus, muslims etc etc!) would respect each others views and let them believe in what they want to believe in peace!
Unfortunately this will never happen because you have the extremists and the ignorant who will always believe that their belief is the only right and true belief.
I am someone who is looking at both theories and I am finding that science has more solid proof.
If you God could show me one TRUE and tangible evidence of proof that he exists then I might believe but all I see around me is hate, ignorance, pain, hunger and people just truly being generally uncaring towards others. Where is your God now?

Religion is a belief system designed to assist the human mind in grappling with unanswerable questions. Some individuals can not grasp or grapple with uncertainty and doubt. They need assistance to cope with the enormous scope of life. These individuals turn towards religion to provide them certainty in an uncertain world. Their minds utilize religion like a cripple uses a crutch. It makes it easier for them to cope in a world that have difficulty comprehending. Atheists do not generally mean to insult those handicapped individuals that need assistance to navigate the uncertainties of life...we are merely calling them cute little nicknames like gimpy, and dolt.

Don't listen to that asshole redhotchilipeper or whatever the hell he calls himself. Ignorance is not one of our problems at all. Atheists are always coming up with excuses to make us feel like crap. Most of the things we complain about are abortion. Abortion to get rid of the baby when a girl is aped is okay because it's not the girl's fault, but a crack whore who shoulda told her sleazy boyfriend to wear a condom should suffer her lack of common sense. By the way there are private schools that teach the religion and people that strongly believe in their Faith usually live happier lives than Atheists.

I don't insult religious ppl, at least not intentionally. My observation is that some xtains are very sensitive and they're always assuming ppl are insulting them because they don't agree with them or they say something controversial and the xtian gets uncomfortable bc they don't know how to respond.

Not ALL Atheists choose to insult. Most of the ones I have met happen to be very intelligent, respectful people. Atheists that I know are above insulting those that choose to act senslessly and be decieved.

Everyone insults everyone. Religious people insult non-religious people, non-religious people insult religious people, religous people insult each other, they insult other religions and so it goes. Most of the Atheists want to be left alone.

Well, when you have religious fanatics strapping bombs on themselves and flying planes into buildings in the name of Allah the merciful its kind of difficult not to develop a mistrust of the root cause of that behavior. Besides, the overall behavior of people that believe in these fantasies gets colored by these beliefs. It becomes very difficult to hold a normal conversation with someone who talks to invisible beings and thinks everything that happens is due to the mysterious power of some super being. Most of us atheists marvel at this behavior, and consider it a form of mental illness. I guess we are just hoping the human race will evolve past all this nonsense and it gets on our nerves when we are reminded by people such as yourself that this behavior is still considered sane.

Besides, I think allah is really satan and mohamud was his buttboy.
