Other than Chuck-E-Cheese's, what indoor place is good for a December birthday party?

my son will be 4 in December also. He is already asking for a bowling birthday party. They put the bumpers up and the kids just bowl away!
An indoor swimming pool is a great idea also. They usually have a party room there where you can do cake and ice cream and PRESENTS!
The store Build a Bear does birthday parties for kids also but I think they are a bit pricey.
Other options could be a local art or children's museum.

Have fun!

Here are a few general ideas:
* one of those indoor-inflatables places (Pump it Up or Jumping Jax or whatever they have near you)
* an indoor sports place (we have one called Sports Blast where I live, but again, you'd have to check your local information)
* a McDonalds with an indoor playground
* your local zoo might have an indoor party room (ours does)
* your local Children's Museum
* a movie theater (if there's a G-rated movie showing, the kids could see the movie and then have time in a party room)
* a bowling alley (one with cosmic bowling and gutter rails)
* a roller skating rink
* an ice skating rink
* a small civic center or community recreation building (many of these rent party rooms; you'd have to provide all the decor and entertainment, though)

Really, though, it depends on where you live. If you look on BabyZone.com and select your local region, you should be able to get a list of all the birthday places in your specific area.

My niece had her 4th birthday party at a Gymboree and invited her friends from daycare. It's not the Gymboree clothing store, it's a place that had mats the kids could run all over the place on and over and inside. There was a place where all the kids could sit at a table and eat the cake, apart from the play space. They had a blast and the parents were happy (they had to stay the whole party for liability reasons) because the kids were EXHAUSTED after playing!

My daughter's birthday is January and we have had her birthdays at some of the following places:

1) at home

2) a gymnastic centre

3) discovery zone/congo bongo/let's play...indoor playcentre

4) skating party

5) west edmonton mall

6) movie theatre

7) swimming pool

8) bowling

**a 4 yr old probably wants something pretty active...are there indoor playcentres where you live? bowling is kind of boring at that age, lazer tag is fun, and often movie theatres have party packages.

also keep in mind how many four year old boys you plan to invite...the more you have, the more of a "controlled" structured environment you'll need for safety, fun and sanity.

good luck

ps. i forgot...like kimmy k suggested, mcdonald's is a great place for that age group and not too expensive either

McDonalds and similar places will help you. Try a relatives home if you can't use yours, or try an outdoor picnic birthday at the beach. Alot of beaches have a "splash zone' the kids would love, or even try a hotel that has an indoor water park if it is in your budget. Outdoor water parks have areas for young children and are also alot of fun. Good Luck!!! and Happy Birthday to your son!

I don't know if you live near a recreation center where I live there are a lot of recreation centers that hold brithday parties. Depending how many kids your inviting maybe you can hold it over at your house. Any which way it going to cost the same. I know I been there done that.

Pump It Up or similar is perfect. It is a big gym with nothing but inflatable bouces, slides, etc... Kind of expensive, but well worth it. We are thinking of having our son's 4 birthday party there in October.
