I only pay £24.00 for a scale and polish. Don't know about the rest as touch wood I have not needed dental treatment for ages. Sounds to me like your being ripped off. Get a new Dentist now and ask for a price list why you are there.

Depends if you think you are getting 45 quids worth of work?
Or 180 quid, or 260 quid?
I think there is no correct charge - just like there is no correct charge for many services. You don't take a Lada to a Rolls-Royce garage for a service . If you expect Rolls-Royce treatment then go to a Rolls-Royce garage but be prepared to pay Rolls-Royce prices. If they give you Lada treatment then take your custom elsewhere.

Don't complain! £45.00 translates to about $92.79 here in Canada. Dental cleanings routinely cost about $130.00 Cdn. so in our books, you got a good deal. That's about £63.00 where you live. I still think it's worth it.

I'm not sure about the UK, but over here, our dentists charge according to the "fee schedule" outlined by their governing body. This keeps them all charging roughly the same rate, so that no one low-balls the other.
