As others have noted, there was a P-51 Mustang, and a P-82 (later F-82, after the Air Force redesignated all their airplanes) Twin Mustang. The Twin Mustang was essentially two P-51 Mustangs linked together with a center wing section.

The XP-52 was a Bell Aircraft proposal that never even made it to the prototype stage before being cancelled. Apparently the basic concept was revived and used as the starting point for the XP-59, which became America's first jet fighter. (Seems rather strange for the Air Force Museum to say this, given the description of the XP-52, having swept wings connected to the horizontal stabilizers; the XP-59 was a much more conventional airplane, with straight wings and a conventional tail. Maybe they meant just the fuselage . . .)

Late model P-51 Mustang. Bubble canopy indicates the later model over the razerback model. The black and white stripes did not occur until the invasion of the continent in a little affair call Operation Overlord. We call it D-Day or the invasion at Normandy. That occurred June 1944. Aircraft being shot down is the ME-262, the first operational jet. Probably 1945. Germany surrendered May 7, 1945.

and a B-52 which is a bomber that came out during the Cold War
and is still being used today.
