Why do you say 'mexican'? My issue is with illegal immigration. If you've emigrated legally to the United States, you're an 'american', plain and simple, if you emigrate from Mexico I hope you didn't leave your heart behind, though...and I think that's part of the problem. Transitioning from one country to another is a painful move, and some neeeever quite make those last lil' steps...always looking back, and that's human. Comma. At some point, you gotta let go of the past, and take up where you now live. But, if you've been in our country for over say, 5 years, I think that's fair, and you haven't decided to take the plunge and 'go legit', then I say 'go home' because that's where you really belong.

I like mexican people. They have a lot to offer. But, this immigration thing is something that HAS to get nailed down. People that don't understand that must not read much, because it's one thing to leave a problem country for a fresh start, it's another thing to just kind of change places and just bring all your problems WITH you. Again, we're human, so we get 'baggage' and stuff, memories and habits and attitudes and views and stuff, but you can shed those with time and really start a new life, which is what many mexicans did when they came to america. But, not all, and increasingly as our two countries have evolved, it's gotten, well, 'messy'. if you wanna see a REAL mess, take a look at the videos on the Minutemen website....they've got some vids of all the junk that people left in the desert on their way by...
and that's just one example.

One thing I've seen posted in this Answers forum a few times are recountings of what people have seen happen in their neighborhoods. Now, seeing is believing, but wouldn't it be a Great Thing to build public awareness if they could show the impact of a lot of people moving into neighborhoods in violation of zoning codes etc? x people generate y trash, etc...

As long as they're good people:) We've had a Mexican family living next door to us, across the street, and down a few houses. They are not from the same family and are really good people. Now, my other neighbor is moving, and I hope a nice family moves in; maybe they'll be Mexican too. Our neighbors that live around our street have (we) lived as neighbors for years and have always been there for one another whenever one of us has fallen on some hard times. We've been through cancer twice, lost spouse,; things like that. All are great people. okay?

The Flores's two doors down are legal Mexican-Americans, and they're GREAT. Their kids, Carlos and Bernice, are a little older than mine, but very patient and earnest playmates. My oldest daughter is learning lots of Spanish. We've got other(legal) Latino families on the block that are really good folks. However, the people in the apartment complex that was recently built behind us are a bunch of loud, drunken potheads that blast their mariachi music 24/7. According to the neighbors, the police, and the local newspapers, they're mostly illegal.

Not unless you're an illegal leaving in a body bag, or going back now to reclaim your Mexican heritage
with revolutionary blood to change your two-tiered nation not mine. Too many people overwhelms any system by not only gang bangers who use drugs for trade, cash, and get shot in doing so, but also as innocent bystanders, brothers, sisters, and all.

I lived in Mexico City for a year.

My impression of Mexicans is that they are very nice people. It is a predominantly Catholic country, and though I'm not religious myself I appreciate how their faith guides them. The social ills that are widespread through the USA - drug abuse, racism, and paranoia - were not in evidence to me in the time I was there.

When I see comments like "55 mexicans living in a house", they are more urban myth than reality, but people will believe what they want to believe.

As long as the person is a legal resident of citizen of the US, I wouldn't mind if they lived next door to me. I have no problem with other races. I have a problem with criminals who break the law.

Why? What is wrong with them? There are good people and bad people in every race. I have lived next door to some trashy white people.
