It stands for Post Exchange.
Navy has the NEX (Navy Ehchange)
Air Force has the BX (Base Exchange)

It is a place for soldiers, sailors or airmen to purchase anything a regular store or shopping mall would have (depending on the size of the exchange) tax free.

Its not post exchange. Its personal exchange. Marine corps call it PX and army and air force calls it BX for basic exchange

Looks like a lot of military types here today, and they're right -- post exchange. Or, in the case of the Air Force, it's BX for base exchange. They're located on military installations and are for the exclusive use of active duty military and retirees, reservists, etc. Try this site: http://riamwr.com/PX.htm
