This is another yes and no question. Each religion carries a seed of truth deep within it. However each religion that I have come in contact with also has a lot of human ego mind stuff covering that truth. The big error people make is in confusing religion with what religion points to. What religion points to is spirituality. Spirituality is a deeply personal direct experience of absolute truth (God). Religion is made up of the stories people tell about that absolute truth. The confusion centers around the fact that words cannot contain or even come close to encompassing absolute truth. So, every religion , because it is based in language, can never hold within it the absolute truth; they can only point in the direction that one can follow to find that connection with absolute truth within their own lives.

You've heard the story about the blind men and the elephant, right? All religions reveal truth about God, but truth is relative. Our minds cannot truly comprehend God, and so we must resort to illustrations and metaphors. Every religion insists that it is the only source of truth about God, and yet when you observe its members, you have to conclude that they know nothing about God. God reveals Himself (another metaphor - God has no gender!) constantly and endlessly, and yet most people look right past the obvious and believe nonsense. Do you honestly think that every human being who lived before Christ has been condemned to hell because Jesus said He was the Way? If this were true, God would be a monster. And yet, people who call themselves Christians take this position. Then again, you meet genuinely spiritual people who live their lives in a humble, loving way, who refuse pin any label on themselves. They simply know in their hearts what God wants of them. The only really satisfactory answer to your question is the one you find yourself through a lifetime of search and meditation. Good luck.

One of the challenges of religions is that practically every religion makes claims of having all the right answers. So I would think that a believer of a particular faith would say that his/her belief is "correct" and may, then, claim that other faiths are not. But I think what is important is that we strive to find commonality between faiths and engage in interfaith dialogues, rather than debating about who is "right" and who is "wrong." But then, this brings us back to my original point - that often people of a particular faith insist, for a variety of reasons, that their beliefs and practices are the "correct" ones and don't choose to engage is such an attempt at understanding - I mean, why should they, if they are right, right?
Sorry if that doesn't answer your question, but I think the essence of religion is belief and faith. Does that make what one believes "correct"? Well, I don't know.

heres a freaky fact, we really dont know which is correct, even the first religion practiced could have been wrong, maybe theres one now, or maybe the correct religion hasnt even come into existance yet. if you belive in heaven or the afterlife, i guess we could find out then, but no guarantee, and if you dont belive, i guess you dnt care to hear an answer then huh?

If someone personally knows God, then he is correct. However, if someone merely makes up a fantasy about God, then he wastes his time.

Truth is absolute. Two different contradictory ideas about the same thing cannot both be true. Either one religion is right or none of them are. My money is on none.

I don't think we will know one way or the other until we meet Him in the sky. I think we will be astonished at the things that we will finally comprehend. Curiosity kills boredom; nothing kills curiosity!
