Probably to amplify the heat. Or to protect their hair. However, given chemical properties of aluminum, this is not a good idea. It can spell fried hair pretty fast.

i seen people in the salon, with foil on their hair. but i guess is for dyeing your hair.....only the area that u want colored..or dye, that u wrap it with foil.

because it helps keep in the heat, like when u put something in the oven and put foil around it to keep in the heat but not burn it
