I have the perfect answer for this question. Growing up with 5 sisters taught me the answer to everything in this department. First of all, make sure a mouse hasn't taken or tasted the gum, then thro it in the garbage and open a new piece of chewing gum. If you are too cheap to :replace" the chewing gum daily, its not a hard item to steal.

I saw an infomercial on TV where there is a flavor injector one can buy from Ronco that will inject minty fresh flavors back into tired limp lumps of rubbery gum deposits. mix it with some snow cone flavoring or sugar! a homeless man taught me to take sugar packets every morning from dennys and freshen up that gum, it will last for months
