Literally. And someone you cared about.
When I was a christian I was hit with this question when my Grandma, who was a Mormon, died. I was told that Mormons were not really Christians, so . . . well, you get the gist.

I have yet to go to a funeral where someone said that the dead person was in hell--they always say they are in a 'better place' or something.

I know you are. For asking such a stupid question. Hell doesn't exist.

Yep, anyone and everyone that has been buried. Hell is translated from the greek as the grave so everyone goes to the grave or Hell. There are three words used and translated as Hell so you need to know which one they are talking about. There is Hades, or the grave, tartaros, or a dark place, and gehenna, the place of burning. When anyone dies and is buried they are going to Hell unless they are cremated and will be scattered somewhere. Nobody goes to Heaven when they die or why would Jesus need to come back to get His people? See 1 thess. 4:16-17. All will go back at once with Jesus when He comes, not like a dripping faucet as most tell you. Want more info, see site below and do the studies.

I respect the fact that you're a Christian, and hopefully by definition that makes you a good person. Lord knows, we can use all the good people we can get. That said, as they say in legal-speak, "Objection, assuming facts not in evidence." Come on now, are you really so mean-spirited as to believe the universe provides for a place of eternal torment? Why don't you give the rest of humanity a break? Thank you ever so much.

God thankfully doesnt judge who gets into heaven by what religion a person says they r. If ur grandma was a good person and tried her best to folow God, I have no doubt she will enter heaven despite her said religion.
i noticed that when one decides to pray for someones entrence into heaven, its possible to tell right away that the person is in hell from the "don't bother" feeling thats imediatly present. if u want to know what that feels liek think about praying for the devil (beyond salvation) and its the same dont bother feeling.

I know a couple of people who I think will likely end up in Hell, but they are still alive. But someone I care about? Nope. One of my life strategies is not to get emotionally involved with people who are going to Hell. No need to let them make my life a living Hell, now, is there?

If people were in hell, then why is JESUS coming back with HIS reward for us? People are NOT in hell. Hell will come in the future. Revelation 20:9

Read all of Revelation 20.

By the way, they WILL NOT burn forever. Lots of proof.

I believe that here on earth is hell. there are some mean and evil things here on earth. I think that when you die you have no choice but to have peace if not your soul just walks around on earth seeing and hearing everything and no one living of course will notice you.
