WAR ON DRUGS? I have a son - 26 yrs. old - heroin addict. I hate what drugs have done to him and eventually did to our family (turns out -- his biological father is also a drug addict and in rehab right now). A doctor in our state actually was prescribing Oxycontin to him (and his friends) at the age of 17 yrs - medication for cancer patients - almost like heroin and NO I did not know. You can't keep your "eye" on a 17 year old at all times like you can a baby/child. They have drivers licenses. I know what some of you may say - -- been on QA for a while. But what do you think this country should do (or the world if your idea is great)? I'm asking here because the government doesn't do the greatest job but there are a LOT OF PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH GOOD IDEAS!!! And something you say here could mean the world of differnce and MAKE EVERYONE THINK. If you have ideas, bring them on. OH AND FOR THE CHRISTIANS - HE WAS RAISED IN CHURCH SO PLEASE DON'T GO THERE.....

Oh darling! My thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm not going to pass any kind of judgement because sometimes good kids do get "caught out there". This may sound cruel, but you and your family(members that care, that is)are gonna have to confront him(along with a person from mental health)in an intervention. Tell your son that this is hurting him as well as you. You can't force your son to go to rehab, but if you can make him face is addiction, that's a start. Also, get some counseling for yourself. You have to be strong as well. The worst thing you can do is give up on your son. Help yourself so that you can help him, too. Good luck and be strong.

I am so, so sorry for what your family is going through. I think that we should REALLY have a WAR on drugs.

Really punish the dealers and the addicts as well. Don't slap them on the wrist and let them go. If it is a major drug like heroin, the dealer should be imprisoned for life.
