Put a lock on it...unless you want nosy people reading it!

Do what feels right to you. That might mean using one without lines or sketching an idea instead of writing, or it could be a place to press flowers from time to time. I've known people who have done all of those things, in addition to writing down their thoughts and feelings, either on a regular basis or not. You aren't married to the thing, either - you don't have to open it daily, if that doesn't work for you.

Yes, you could write down only the most dramatic things that happen to you, and record only your wildest dreams, but I suggest that you jot down the mundane things every day. What was the weather like and what did you eat and who did you say hi to. Committing to just recording those simple facts should prevent any writer's block, and, once you're in the habit of writing every day, you will find yourself expanding on topics and describing your world--both inner and outer--in greater detail. I think it will also be of great interest to you someday, and perhaps your heirs, to get a glimpse of what your daily routine was like--what you ate, what you did for fun, what you thought of the news of the day--way back in 2006. Good luck!

It is your diary so it should be whatever you want it to be.

Just write whatever is on your mind. What happened yesterday? What are your thoughts on life? What are your opinions?

If you feel like writing 2 pages, write 2 pages. If you don't feel like writing, don't force anything.
